Mercedes M111 M104 spark plug set for increased power levels

When upgrading the performance of your Mercedes-Benz with an M111 or M104 engine, choosing the right spark plug is essential. Depending on the performance upgrade and operating conditions, spark plugs with the original heat rating may work. However, it is advisable to also choose the spark plug with a heat rating suitable for extended periods under high load.

An increase in power, particularly through increased boost pressure but also through higher engine speeds, increases the thermal load on the spark plug, among other things. Therefore, once a certain increase in power is achieved, "colder" spark plugs should be used. These are characterized by their ability to better dissipate the absorbed heat to the cylinder head.

We can make the following recommendations for using these spark plugs:

• M111 Power per liter:
  • Track racing: 100 - 130 hp/l
  • Drifting: 110 - 140 hp/l
  • Everyday use: 120 - 150 hp/l
• M104 Power per liter:
  • Track racing: 130 - 160 hp/l
  • Drifting: 140 - 170 hp/l
  • Everyday use: 150 - 180 hp/l
